McGee picks up first OUA shutout in Ridgebacks win over Queen’s

OSHAWA, Ont. – Zoe McGee (Kanata, Ont.) made 23 saves in her first OUA shutout and win for the Ontario Tech women's hockey program at home on Friday night.

The 1-0 win over the Queen's Gaels followed a 3-0 win by the men's program, also at home. Leif Hertz was in goal for the men's game earning his first OUA shutout, making the duo the first goaltenders to earn shutouts for the Ridgebacks on the same day in program history.

Prior to the game, the MARS lab and Spot the robot dog took part in a brief pre-game ceremony with Spot dropping the puck.

Ontario Tech outshot Queen's 31-23, with Erin Ross (Lucan, Ont.) scoring the lone goal on an innocent looking wraparound on Gaels' goaltender Makenzy Arsenault, who finished the night with 30 saves in the loss.

Ross' goal was her second of the season, assisted by Jamie Bulleid (Waterdown, Ont.).

The two teams meet again tomorrow night in Kingston in the second half of their home-and-home to wrap up the first half of the OUA season.
