OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's lacrosse team came close, but were unable to pick up their first win of the year against the Toronto Varsity Blues at Varsity Stadium on Saturday.
The Ridgebacks dropped the first game 15-8 after scoring only two goals in the second half.
Caitlyn Cote (Oshawa, Ont.) continued to be a consistent contributor with three goals.
Catherine Vinkovic (Oshawa, Ont.) added two of her own.
Ayden Briggs (Oshawa, Ont.),
Brooke Watson (Courtice, Ont.) and
Amanda Di Mascio (Georgetown, Ont.) also had a goal apiece.
In the second game of the evening, Ontario Tech fell just short of picking up their first win of the year, losing 11-10 despite a late comeback attempt. Cote scored four times, while Briggs scored three for the Pack.
Hannah Bragg (Oshawa, Ont.) scored twice and Watson scored once.
Kelsey Cluett (Whitby, Ont.) was in net for the Ridgebacks in both games.
Ontario Tech closes their regular season at home on Oct. 23 against the Queen's Gaels before they host the OUA women's field lacrosse championship on October 30-31 in Oshawa.
