OSHAWA, Ont. – The defending OUA women's field lacrosse champion Trent Excalibur has advanced to the medal round in Oshawa.
Trent went 2-0 in pool play at the Oshawa Civic Fields on Saturday, knocking off the Guelph Gryphons 12-5 to start their day before dropping the Laurier Golden Hawks 19-5 to end the opening day of play.
Their semifinal will take place at 9 a.m. at Vaso's Field at Ontario Tech University, the same field they won their title on in 2019, against the Western Mustangs.
Western advanced with decisive 18-1 and 19-6 victories over McMaster and Ontario Tech in their pool.
The second semifinal will feature the Queen's Gaels and Guelph Gryphons at 11 a.m.
Queen's was also decisive in their wins, defeating the Brock Badgers 25-2 before ending the day by dropping the Toronto Varsity Blues 16-2.
Guelph qualified for the medal round through tiebreakers, edging out the Varsity Blues and host Ontario Tech Ridgebacks in the point differential tiebreaker by one. Following their loss to Trent to start the day, they won 9-7 over the Laurier Golden Hawks.
The bronze medal match will take place at 1:30 p.m., immediately followed by the gold medal match at 3:30 p.m.
