OSHAWA, Ont. – On the back of yet another double-double from
Ammar Hassan (London, Ont.), the Ontario Tech men's basketball team earned their first home victory in exhibition play with an 84-81 win over the Concordia Stingers.
With
Graddy Kanku (Ottawa, Ont.) and
Ba-Amara Ajame (Montreal, Que.) out, the Ridgebacks once again rallied around big performances from their veteran players. Hassan notched his 15
th Ridgeback double-double with 28 points, 10 rebounds and three steals.
Anthony Pate (Oakville, Ont.) poured in 21 points, four points and three steals.
Concordia was able to keep it within reach throughout the game thanks to a 26 point showing from Olivier Simon, but a huge second half from first-year guard
Tesloch Luk (Ottawa, Ont.), who had 17 points and seven rebounds, Ontario Tech was able to pull away. Clutch free throws from Hassan sealed the game with just six seconds remaining.
The Ridgebacks will play their final exhibition game on the road against the Brock Badgers on Oct. 29 before returning for their home opener against the Laurentian Voyaguers on Nov. 5.
