OSHAWA, Ont. – Marissa Murphy (Odessa, Ont.) was the lone skater to score in Friday night's shootout as the Ontario Tech women's hockey team picked up a 2-1 win over the Brock Badgers to open preseason action.
Ella Krushelnicki scored 28 seconds into the second period to open the scoring for Brock.
Natalie Wozney (Whitby, Ont.) evened it up 12:02 into the period, with assists to
Baie Marcantonio (New Westminster, B.C.) and Murphy.
Neither team was able to score in regulation or overtime, sending the game to the shootout. Despite winning, Ontario Tech was outshot 22-16 in the game, including 4-2 in overtime.
Zoe McGee (Kanata, Ont.) and
Brooke Vial (Port Moody, B.C.) split time in goal for the Ridgebacks, making 11 and 10 saves respectively. Aline Hironaka made 14 saves in the loss for the Badgers.
Ontario Tech returns to the ice Saturday afternoon as they host the Guelph Gryphons.
