OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech men's basketball team fell 80-55 to the Windsor Lancers in their return to competition on Tuesday night at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.
With three new players inserted into the starting lineup, the Ridgebacks failed to find their footing early and fell behind, trailing 25-8 after one quarter. Despite Ontario Tech's offensive turnaround in the second quarter, where they outscored Windsor 25-15, they struggled to contain CEBL U SPORTS Draft selection Thomas Kennedy in the post where he scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
Graddy Kanku (Ottawa, Ont.) led the way for the Ridgebacks with 10 points, six rebounds, two steals and one block. Khaleek Bakare-Whyte (Toronto, Ont.) also had 10 points, three rebounds and three steals.
AJ Cummings (Ajax, Ont.) and
Patrick-Olivier Mpoyi (Ottawa, Ont.) both came off the bench and scored nine points each.
The Ridgebacks will head on the road to Hamilton next where they'll play the McMaster Marauders on Oct. 14 before handing to Waterloo to face the Waterloo Warriors and Wilfried Laurier Golden Hawks on Oct. 15.
