OSHAWA, Ont. – Similar to the women's game earlier in the evening, the Ontario Tech men's basketball team had the Laurentian Voyageurs come from behind to win on Saturday night.
The Ridgebacks led the final home game of their inaugural season 24-7 after the opening quarter, but going into the half their lead was down to one point. Laurentian continued their dominance in the third quarter en route to their 85-75 victory.
Ammar Hassan (London, Ont.) was a beast for the Ridgebacks, scoring 25 points with 19 rebounds and three steals in the loss. He was followed closely offensively by
AJ Cummings (Ajax, Ont.) with 22 points.
They were close to winning the night before as well, this time falling 93-85 to the Nipissing Lakers.
Graddy Kanku (Ottawa, Ont.) finished the night with 34 points, while Hassan had 14 points and 19 rebounds in the loss.
"This was a big weekend of games for us and our guys battled," said head coach
Greg Francis. "Experience and veteran toughness of Kadre Gray and Justin Skaver were the difference in the games, but our big guns held their own with big game scoring and rebounding the basketball this weekend."
Ontario Tech will now wrap up their inaugural season with a Wednesday night game against the York Lions before travelling to Thunder Bay on the weekend to face the Lakehead Thunderwolves.
Overall Record: 1-24
Conference Record: 1-19
