OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's basketball program is pleased to announce Harriette Mackenzie as their most recent commit for the 2021-22 season.
From her hometown in Comox, B.C., Mackenzie joins the Ridgeback family after graduating from Mark R Isfeld Secondary School where she was awarded Vancouver Island all-star and North Island MVP.
Mackenzie has helped her team qualify for the provincial championship twice.
"We are extremely excited to have our first B.C. commitment to the program," said head coach
Christa Eniojukan. "Harriette is a hidden gem with an extremely versatile game on offence and the ability to guard and defend exceptionally well by using her length and athleticism. I am confident she will be able to contribute at the U SPORTS level and bring a positive impact to our team."
This past year Mackenzie played in Denmark under the coaching of Geof Kotilla and Craig Pedersen where she earned top scorer, rebounder and blocker. In January 2020 Mackenzie achieved her highest single-game point total with 37 points, 23 rebounds and eight blocks, making the 6'2 centre/forward a great addition to the Ridgebacks.
"Playing post-secondary basketball has always been one of my biggest aspirations and I'm extremely excited I am to have found such a good fit in Ontario Tech," said Mackenzie.
Mackenzie is enroled in the social science and humanities program at Ontario Tech and is the first recruit announced for the 2021 season.
