OTTAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech University women's hockey team fell 2-1 to the Carleton Ravens on Sunday afternoon on the road to open their preseason schedule.

Madeline Schroder (Kitchener, Ont.) and
Natalie Wozney (Whitby, Ont.).
Between the pipes
Celine Tessier (Chapleau, Ont.) and
Briar Hughes (Thornton, Ont.) split time, facing 23 shots from the Ravens. Ontario Tech finished the game with 16 shots.
"We started slow, but started to find our legs as the rust wore off," said head coach
Justin Caruana. "There are lots of good things to take away, but still lots of work to do, which was expected from our first game."
Sunday was Carleton's fifth preseason game, but only the first for the Ridgebacks. Overall the coaching staff was happy with the progression throughout the 60 minutes.
"In the third period we started to play our game and good things started to happen," said Caruana.
Next Saturday, the Ridgebacks are home at the Campus Ice Centre for their exhibition game against the Laurier Golden Hawks. Puck drop is 3:30 p.m.
