OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech University women's basketball team continues to make strides early in their inaugural season as their program's first victory was within reach in Wednesday night exhibition action against the St. FX X-Women.
After three quarters the Ridgebacks trailed by only three, but a strong fourth quarter for the X-Women gave them some further separation and a 75-64 lead.
Bilan Khadar (Ottawa, Ont.) and
Jolesha Allen-Brown (Oshawa, Ont.) led the Ontario Tech offence with 18 and 14 points respectively.
Alyssa Carin (Brampton, Ont.) had a solid game as well, going 6-for-6 from the free throw line with eight points and 10 rebounds.
St. FX's Marley Bonnick gave the Ridgebacks trouble all night as the was 4-for-5 from three and 8-for-9 from the free throw line, finishing with 30 points.
Aliyah Fraser and Briar MacDonald were also key contributors for St. FX with 11 and 10 points.
Looking ahead, the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks next game will be their OUA debut on Friday, Oct. 25 against the Laurentian Voyageurs in Sudbury. They will be in Oshawa for their home opener the following weekend on Sunday, Nov. 3 against the Queen's Gaels.
