OSHAWA, Ont. – Friday night's result should be no surprise for anyone that has followed the OUA women's soccer rivalry between UOIT and Queen's over the last few years.
That said, heading into the match Queen's was undefeated.
But the Ridgebacks – who have had the Gaels number in recent seasons – shocked the nationally-ranked Gaels by shutting them out 2-0.

Georgia Wilder (Zurich, Ont.) scored her first career OUA goal. It came after a
Julia Listro (Toronto, Ont.) corner kick, followed by
Alexis Kirton (Pickering, Ont.) putting the ball to Wilder who buried in the bottom left corner.
The tally stood as the lone goal at halftime, despite Queen's with six shots on goal to UOIT's three.
Queen's had similar opportunities in the second half, putting more shots on goal again, but
Olivia Tierney (King City, Ont.) made a career-high 11 saves in her second career clean sheet.
Taijah Henderson (Ajax, Ont.) scored her first goal of the season and 20
th all-time in the 72
nd minute, deflecting a perfectly-placed free kick from Kirton past Anna Stephenson.
In the loss, Stephenson made five saves.
The victory proved to be huge for the Ridgebacks who are now fifth in the OUA east and are four points back of first place. They will now prepare for the RMC Paladins on Sunday afternoon at home. Kick off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
