OSHAWA, Ont. - The UOIT Ridgebacks men's soccer team fell 5-0 to the visiting Windsor Lancers on Sunday afternoon (Aug. 19) at the Oshawa Civic.

Windsor was quick to get on the board as Bryce Phillips picked up his first of three goals on the afternoon just three minutes into the exhibition contest.

Ridgebacks striker Isaiah Sheets then took over for a short stretch in the early going, slicing through the Lancers defence to the tune of three shots, including one which challenged Windsor starting goalkeeper Greg Chac. However, following the early attack UOIT struggled to maintain possession throughout the remainder of the contest.

The Ridgebacks were able to hold off the Lancers to the half, maintaining the 1-0 score line, but following the break Windsor would score four unanswered goals. Phillips finished his hat trick in the second half, while Windsor added two more late.

Nicholas Miller and Owen Hughes split time in net for UOIT, with Miller picking up two saves. Chac was relieved by Shawn Hunter in the second half for the Lancers with the pair combining for three saves.

The Ridgebacks will conclude their preseason schedule this Tuesday when they challenge the visiting UQTR Patriotes. The contest is scheduled for an 11 a.m. kick off at the Oshawa Civic.
