OSHAWA, Ont. – The UOIT Ridgebacks women's soccer team ended their regular season with a 0-0 draw versus the visiting Trent Excalibur on Saturday afternoon.
It was an even matchup between the two teams, as they both had their fair share of chances, but could not find the back of the net throughout the entirety of the 90 minutes.
The UOIT midfield was led by standout first-year
Sarah Foster (Oshawa, Ont.) who never ran out of gas getting a total of five chances at net. Meanwhile, veteran goalkeeper
Victoria Savage (Woodbridge, Ont.) backed the Ridgebacks in net, making 14 total saves.
The half started off slow for the Ridgebacks as the Excaliburs kept them in their own end for the majority of the play. The Excalibur's midfield and defensive lines had a strong showing, only allowing two shots on their net in this first half.
The Ridgebacks went on to make a second half push, outchancing the Excalibur 11-9, while maintaining pressure for the entire final 45 minutes. Excalibur's goalkeeper, Mackaylen Bickle was key in stopping the Ridgebacks in the second half, making all of her eight saves in the final frame.
Looking ahead to next week, the Ridgebacks will prepare for a playoff matchup, currently sitting fourth in the OUA east with a 7-5-4 record.
