KINGSTON, Ont. – Despite the game being within reach for the UOIT women's hockey team, the first-place Queen's Gaels handed the Ridgebacks their third straight loss on Saturday night.
Queen's won the game 2-0, with one of the two tallies coming on an empty net.
After a goal-less first period, Hailey Wilson scored just 28 seconds into the second period to give her team the lead and score the eventual game-winning goal. Clare McKellar and Micaela Smith earned the helpers.
Celine Tessier (Chapleau, Que.) made 35 saves in the loss, only her second since joining the Ridgebacks, dropping her record to 3-2.
Stephanie Pascal earned her second straight shutout for the Gaels, turning aside all 18 Ridgeback shots, while Addi Halladay iced the game with empty-net/power play goal with 40 seconds to go in the third period.
UOIT now has two games remaining in the first semester of play, both of which are at home. On Friday, Nov. 24 they host their second annual school day game against the Toronto Varsity Blues at 11:30 a.m.
On Saturday, their final game of the semester is 3:30 p.m. against the Ryerson Rams.
