Ridgebacks field lacrosse returns home this Friday

OSHAWA, Ont. – This Friday night fans will have the opportunity to catch the UOIT women's field lacrosse team at home again as they play host to the Ottawa Gee-Gees.

Game time is 7 p.m. at the Oshawa Civic.

The game is part of UOIT varsity teams going pink for October in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and Sick Kids Foundation. Special pink t-shirts will be on sale at the game, with all proceeds going to the two foundations.

"I think this is a great campaign for all Ridgebacks to get behind and make an impact," said Cassandra Sribny, a member of the Ridgeback Leadership Council. "It will be exciting to see all of the varsity teams, students and fans to get behind."

UOIT returns home after a weekend in Guelph.

They opened the weekend against the Western Mustangs with a 23-2 loss, but finished with a better showing against McMaster.

The Ridgebacks lost 7-4, with Julia Vinkovic (Oshawa, Ont.) leading with two goals.

Holly Collins (Oshawa, Ont.) opened the scoring for UOIT.

After Friday night's home game UOIT hits the road, for games against Trent and Queen's in Kingston. Game times are 10:15 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
