Ridgebacks blown out in Ottawa

OTTAWA – The one good thing to come out of the UOIT men's hockey team's 8-0 loss to Carleton on Saturday is that they have a chance for redemption next Thursday night at home.

Carleton matched a season-high eight goal output in the first half of their home-and-home series against the Ridgebacks. The rematch will take place on Thursday, Jan. 12 at the Campus Ice Centre. Puck drop for Wounded Warriors of Canada night at the rink is 7:30 p.m.

With two losses this weekend, UOIT (12-7-1) drops into a three-way tie for fourth place in the OUA eastern conference with UQTR (12-6-1) and Carleton (12-7-1).

Carleton dominated Saturday's game from start to finish, outshooting the Ridgebacks 39-24.

Seven Ravens had multi-point games with Brett Welychka and Brent Norris leading the way with a goal and two assists apiece.

Francois Brassard was perfect in net making 24 saves. The freshman goaltender has been red-hot having recorded three shutouts in his last three games.
