TORONTO, Ont. – In the opening 15 minutes of the second half the UOIT women's soccer team were able to switch gears en route to a lopsided 6-0 victory on Saturday over the Ryerson Rams.
Outshooting the Rams 4-0 in the opening half it was only
Katherine Koehler-Grassau's (Greely, Ont.) penalty kick in the 30
th minute that beat Brittney Clendenan to put the Ridgebacks ahead 1-0.
To start the scoring in the second half
Rachel Matthews (Ajax, Ont.) scored four minutes in. Within the next ten minutes
Cassandra Sribny (Pickering, Ont.) scored in the 51
st and 59
th minutes, while
Kylie Bordeleau (Cambridge, Ont.) added one in the 56
th to increase the lead to five.
Sarah Harvey (Bowmanville, Ont.) rounded out the scoring in the 90
th minute.
Victoria Savage (Woodbridge, Ont.) and
Helen Frampton (Toronto, Ont.) shared the clean sheet in goal for UOIT, with Savage making the only save.
Clendenan took the loss for Ryerson, while sharing time with Elisa Lapadula.
The Ridgebacks ended the match outshooting the Rams 15-1.
UOIT is back in Toronto Sunday afternoon for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
Their next home match will be Wednesday's exhibition against the Durham Lords in the Campus Cup.
