OSHAWA, Ont. – The UOIT men's soccer team allowed two quick goals on Thursday night and couldn't mount a comeback as the No. 3 ranked Ryerson Rams dropped the Ridgebacks 4-1.
Just five minutes into the match Jamie Baker opened the scoring for the Rams.
Less than a minute later Jackson Tooke scored on a penalty kick, after being taken down in the box, to push the lead to two.
UOIT settled in after the slow start, but Andrew Dias gave the Rams a 3-0 lead after the opening 45 minutes.
It wasn't until the 84
th minute that the next goal was scored as
Tristan Maenza (Courtice, Ont.) scored off another header on a perfectly placed ball by captain
Erik Petrovic (Sombor, Serbia).
Unfortunately the Rams bounced right back as Venizelos Koutsoulia iced the game for Ryerson with his goal in the 86
th minute.
Praveen Ahilan earned the win in goal for Ryerson, while
Nicholas Miller (Oshawa, Ont.) made five saves in the loss for UOIT.
The Ridgebacks are now off until Wednesday night when they host the Carleton Ravens at 6 p.m. at Vaso's Field.
