NORTH BAY, Ont. – The UOIT women's hockey team's losing streak reached a season-high six games on Saturday with a 6-1 loss to Nipissing.
Things looked positive for the Ridgebacks as they were tied 1-1 through three quarters of the second period, but the Lakers would close out the frame with three unanswered goals to lead 4-1. Two of the Lakers late goals were within 14 seconds of each other.
Nipissing would tack on two more goals in the third to give them six, matching their highest offensive output in program history.
Mikaeli Cavell (Edmonton, Alta.) scored the Ridgebacks lone goal with
Sam Forchielli (Hamilton, Ont.) and
Tailor Campbell (Palmerston, Ont.) picking up assists. Forchielli's assist was her 40th career point.
Carly Marchment of Courtice, Ont. would lead the Lakers' offence with two goals including the game winner and an assist.
Nipissing outshot UOIT 27-16.
The Ridgebacks will play their final road game of the regular season on Sunday against the Laurentian Voyageurs, before heading home for their final two games of the regular season.
