OSHAWA, Ont. – The No. 5 ranked UOIT men's hockey team rolled to a 6-0 victory over the Western Mustangs Friday night at the Campus Ice Centre.
UOIT is off to their best start in program history after posting a 9-2-0 record, good enough to sit atop of the OUA eastern conference standings one point in front of the Queen's Gaels.
Friday's six goal outburst was UOIT's highest offensive output of the season. The last time the Ridgebacks scored six goals in a conference game was on Dec. 3, 2015 against the Toronto Varsity Blues.
Leading the Ridgebacks offensive attack was Stouffville native

Making his 2016 home debut,
Loren Ulett (Port Perry, Ont.) also had a multi-point game with a goal and an assist while
Danny Elser (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) had two assists.
Ben Blasko (Kingston, Ont.) and
Ryan Doucette (Waterloo, Ont.) rounded out scoring for UOIT.

UOIT would end up outshooting Western 36-24.
The Ridgebacks will be back on home ice on Saturday as they host the Guelph Gryphons (5-6-0) with puck drop scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Guelph enters Saturday's game coming off a 3-2 loss to Queen's in Kingston on Friday night.
