PETERBOROUGH, Ont. – For the first time since 2013 the UOIT men's soccer team has missed the postseason.
Heading into their final game of the regular season against Trent the Ridgebacks were a point back of the Excalibur for the final playoff spot, needing a win to earn their third straight postseason berth. Unfortunately they played to a 1-1 draw to end the season with five straight draws.
Noah Brennan opened the scoring for the Excalibur in the 26
th minute, the lone goal of the opening half.
Fabio Campoli (Frosinone, Italy) scored his 10
th goal of the season in the 67
th minute, but that's where the UOIT comeback stopped.
Nicholas Miller (Oshawa, Ont.) made eight saves in the draw for the Ridgebacks. In his first year with UOIT he earned two shutouts.
At the opposite end of the field David Ellis made 10 saves in Trent's victory.
To end conference play this season Campoli finished fifth in the OUA with 10 goals.
