OSHAWA, Ont. – The wind was definitely a factor in the UOIT/Queen's women's soccer match that saw the two sides play to a scoreless draw Friday night at the Civic.
With the wind in their favour in the first half, UOIT had three shots on target while the Gaels did not register one. After flipping sides in the second half, things shifted in Queen's favour as they fired five shots on target while UOIT had none.
UOIT goalkeeper
Helen Frampton (Toronto, Ont.) stopped all three shots she faced in the Ridgebacks ninth shutout of the season. The team has only allowed four goals against, the lowest total of any team across the OUA.
Nicole Zajac of Mississauga had all three Ridgeback shots on target. This marked her first time starting since her return from an injury in the summer.
With 23 points in 12 games played, UOIT sits in a tie for second place in the OUA eastern conference with the Laurentian Voyageurs. Queen's and Carleton trail by just two points as the four teams will battle down the stretch for the first round bye in the playoffs.
UOIT will return to the Oshawa Civic on Sunday afternoon when they host the RMC Paladins with kick-off taking place at 1p.m. In their first meeting of the year, UOIT won 1-0.
