KINGSTON, Ont. – The UOIT men's hockey team are in the win column after taking Saturday night's game in Kingston 6-3 over the RMC Paladins.
Loren Ulett (Port Perry, Ont.) led the Ridgebacks with a pair of goals, while
Brendan O'Neill (Ilderton, Ont.) made 18 saves in the win.
Jessie Stoughton (Bobcaygeon, Ont.), assisted by
Dylan King (Middle Sackville, N.S.), opened the scoring for UOIT 13:46 into the first period.
Mark Petaccio (Sicklerville, N.J.) made it 2-0 on the power play with 1:56 to go in the frame before Ulett pushed the Ridgebacks lead to three on the next shift, just 25 seconds later.
Early in the second Eric Bouchard put RMC on the board, but
Connor Jarvis (Port Union, Ont.) reinstated the three-goal lead 10 minutes into the period.
With 2:26 left before the intermission, Scott Domenico tallied for the Paladins as UOIT led 4-2 after two.
Ulett scored his second of the game and season, unassisted, 3:14 into the third. Mathieu Lavallee helped RMC bounce back, but
Ryan Doucette (Waterloo, Ont.) put UOIT ahead by three again, a lead they held until the final whistle.
Matt Murphy made 21 saves in the loss for RMC.
UOIT will now return home for a pair of home games next weekend. The Ridgebacks host Brock on Thursday before the York Lions visit the Campus Ice Centre on Saturday. Both games are 7:30 p.m.
