Ridgebacks LAX defeats Queen's OUA Women's Field LacrosseUOIT tied Trent 12-12UOIT defeated Queen's 9-7 PETERBOROUGH, Ont. – The UOIT women's field lacrosse team posted positive results on Sunday afternoon as the Ridgebacks pulled out a win and a draw at Trent University.
The Ridgebacks opened up the day with an early match against the Trent Excalibur, which was played in poor weather conditions. The rain and wind did not seem to slow down the teams' offences as they ended up in a 12-12 draw.
Taylor Milburn (Whitby, Ont.) would finish the match with four goals for UOIT while
Taylor Landry (Whitby, Ont.) had two goals and three assists. Veterans
Brittany Simmons (Whitby, Ont.) and
Kristen Bright (Whitby, Ont.) also had multi-point games with two goals and one assist apiece.
In game two against Queen's, UOIT led from start to finish and ended up winning by a final score of 9-7. The team did a great job on transitions and maintained control of the ball in their attacking end. Milburn would record her second hat-trick of the day while Simmons had two goals in the winning effort. Sunday's game was a rematch from opening weekend, when UOIT dropped their first game of the season to the Gaels 13-6.
UOIT will have a weekend off before they host six OUA matches at the Oshawa Civic on Saturday, October 4. The slate of games will begin at 8 a.m. when the Ridgebacks host York University.
