Box Score Disappointing loss for UOIT to Laurentian OUA Men's Soccer: Laurentian defeated UOIT 2-1 SUDBURY, Ont. – After playing one of their stronger games of the year against the nationally ranked Ryerson Rams earlier in the week, the UOIT men's soccer team took a step backwards on Saturday as Laurentian pulled off a 2-1 victory over the Ridgebacks.
The victory was the Voyageurs first of the season, as they are now tied with the Ridgebacks with matching 1-4-2 records. The teams sit three points behind Nipissing (2-3-2) for fifth place, who the Ridgebacks will face on Sunday afternoon.
The Voyageurs scored two goals 10-minutes apart in the first half, with Cameron Brooks and Liam Ezzard scoring in the 26
th and 36
th minutes respectively.
Playing in only his third game of the season,
Andrew Serediuk (Mississauga, Ont.) would score the Ridgebacks' lone goal in the 88
th minute off a rebound, but it was too little, too late as Laurentian would grab the three points.
Laurentian made the most of their chances as they converted on two of their three shots on target. UOIT fired 10 shots in the game but could only capitalize in the final minutes. Thomas Guscott had a great game in net for Laurentian making six saves for his first win of the season.
