Third straight win for UOIT women's soccer KINGSTON, Ont. – The UOIT women's soccer team wrapped up exhibition play with a 1-0 victory over the Concordia Stingers on Monday afternoon in Kingston.
With the win, UOIT finished preseason action with a 3-1-0 record, outscoring their opponents 9-2. The wins will mean nothing however if the Ridgebacks cannot carry their momentum into conference play which begins on Saturday afternoon against Ottawa.
UOIT waited until the final minutes against Concordia to score as
Shannon Lucas (Oshawa, Ont.) broke the tie as she scored off a pass from
Rachel Matthews (Ajax, Ont.) in the 80th minute. Goalkeeper
Melissa Linton (Cobourg, Ont.) recorded the cleansheet.
Ottawa, UOIT's opponent on Saturday, were the OUA eastern conference champions finishing the year with a 12-1-3 record. Game time for the season opener is 1 p.m.
