UOIT bounces back with a 2-2 draw against Brock ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – After suffering a 3-0 loss to the Humber Hawks on Friday, the UOIT men's soccer team responded with a 2-2 draw against the Brock Badgers in St. Catharines on Saturday afternoon.
UOIT looked sharp in the first half but their efforts continued to come up short as they failed to convert on four great scoring opportunities. This was the fifth straight half the young Ridgebacks squad failed to score a goal.
After going down 1-0 early in the second half, UOIT would finally end their scoreless streak as freshman
George Meditskos of Toronto struck to tie the game up at one goal apiece.
The Ridgebacks once again found themselves down a few minutes later as Brock would score their second goal of the half, but UOIT would show their resiliency as they managed to comeback for a second time. It was second year midfielder
Erik Petrovic (Sombor, Serbia) who tied the game as he registered his first goal since rejoining the Ridgebacks after missing the entire 2013 season.
With the tie, UOIT is 0-1-2 in preseason action. The Ridgebacks will wrap up exhibition play on Monday, August 25
th against the Concordia Stingers in Kingston.
UOIT's first conference game is set for Sunday, August 31 versus Carleton. The match will mark UOIT's first game as a member of the OUA Eastern Conference. Game time against the Ravens at Vaso's Field is 3:15 p.m.
