Ridgebacks' offence explodes in a 5-0 win OSHAWA, Ont. – UOIT scored four second half goals in a 5-0 victory over the Windsor Lancers in women's soccer preseason action at the Oshawa Civic.
In the opening 45 minutes of the game, UOIT's
Cassandra Sribny (Pickering, Ont.) managed to score the lone goal to give the Ridgebacks a lead at the half.
UOIT's offence would fire on all cylinders over the next 45 minutes as they put four more goals on the scoreboard. Freshman
Rachel Matthews (Ajax, Ont.) came into the game at the 55-minute mark and left a lasting impression with the coaching staff as she scored back-to-back goals in 15 minutes to put the Ridgebacks up 3-0. UOIT's offence continued to roll for the remainder of the game as
Nicole Zajac (Mississauga, Ont.) and Tyra Gordan (Ajax, Ont.) each scored to cap off the 5-0 victory.
UOIT holds a 1-1-0 record after two preseason games and will head to Toronto on Friday for a match against the Humber Hawks. Game time is 2 p.m.
