OUA Women's Lacrosse
UOIT defeated by Guelph, tie Brock WATERLOO, Ont. – In their final weekend of action before the OUA championship, the UOIT women's lacrosse team walked away with a loss and a tie.
On Saturday the Ridgebacks were in Guelph to face the Gryphons. Unfortunately for UOIT they were on the losing end of an 11-10 score.
Taylor Landry led the team with four goals and two assists, while
Taylor Milburn added two goals.
Brittany Simmons,
Jill Carroll,
Kristen Bright and
Meaghan Dunn (first of the season) all scored a goal apiece.
Coach
Liane Chornobay said ultimately the team ran out of time in the back-and-forth game, but overall they had a great effort defensively and offensively.
In their second game of the weekend, on Sunday, they tied Brock 12-12.
Landry again led the team's scoring with seven goals and one assist. Bright added three, while Milburn scored twice and Dunn rounded out their offence with a single tally.
Brock led the game at halftime, but UOIT was able to bounce back and tie the game.
Jennifer Daly played both games in goal for the Ridgebacks.
This weekend UOIT hosts the OUA championship from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2 at the Oshawa Civic Recreation Complex. The schedule is being finalized on Monday.
