UOIT men's soccer suffer their third straight loss
OUA Men's Soccer: Windsor defeated UOIT 5-0
WINDSOR, Ont. - The UOIT men's soccer team dropped a 5-0 decision to the Windsor Lancers on Sunday afternoon, as the Ridgebacks suffered their third straight loss.
After a solid effort on Saturday against the nationally ranked Western Mustangs, the Ridgebacks were unable to carry that momentum into Sunday's contest.
The Lancers got off to a quick start as they were given a penalty kick just two minutes into the contest. Cristian Mayorga would capitalize on the opportunity as he beat UOIT goalkeeper
Travis Martin (Port Perry, Ont.) to go ahead 1-0.
After trading scoring chances for the rest of the first half which included an unsuccessful penalty shot for UOIT, Windsor would manage to strike again as Iyowuna Jumbo scored his first career OUA goal at the 38 minute-mark.
Windsor would tack on three more goals in the second half, with Patrick Ten Eyck, Mayorga and Salinitri finding the back of the net.
UOIT fired six shots on target, but Kyle Vizirakis was able to stop them all for his first career shutout.
The Ridgebacks fall to 0-3-1 this season and sit in eighth place in the OUA western conference. Windsor holds the final playoff position with a record of 1-1-2.
UOIT's next action is scheduled for Friday, September 13 when they host the Waterloo Warriors. Waterloo is currently in last place with a 0-4-0 record.
