Nationally ranked Mustangs trump UOIT
OUA Men's Soccer: Western defeated UOIT 1-0
LONDON, Ont. – Despite a strong road effort, the UOIT men's soccer team fell just short against the No. 10 ranked Western University losing by a score of 1-0 in London.
Alesandro Collaci scored the first and only goal of the game with 16 minutes left in the second half to give the Mustangs their second win of the season. The game winner was Collaci's first career OUA goal.
Joe Vaz (Whitby, Ont.) had a number of scoring chances for UOIT, but could not find a way to put one past Western veteran goalkeeper Ivan Skoko who earned the cleansheet.
Despite not picking up a point, the Ridgebacks can take plenty of positives out of their performance against one of the top programs in the CIS, considering they dropped a 5-0 decision to Guelph on Wednesday night.
Head coach
Vaso Vujanovic will be looking for his squad to put in the same type of effort on Sunday as the Ridgebacks take on the Windsor Lancers. Windsor is 0-1-2, one point ahead of UOIT who are 0-2-1.
