Ridgebacks battle to the end in loss to Brock

OUA Men's Soccer: Brock defeated UOIT 4-3

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The UOIT men's soccer team were defeated by Brock University 4-3 on Saturday in St. Catharines.

The game was a back and forth affair as teams exchanged the lead on four occasions. The game began with the Badgers jumping out to an early 1-0 lead before striker Joe Vaz (Whitby, Ont.) tied the game prior to the halftime whistle.

Vaz would then score his second goal of the game early in the second half to put the Ridgebacks up 2-1 in the 48th minute. After Brock tied the game 2-2, Alex Cuccovillo (Ajax, Ont.) was able to again put the Ridgebacks in the lead with a goal in the 61st minute.

However, the Ridgebacks 3-2 lead did not last long as Brock would again tie the game before taking the lead in the 78th minute. UOIT fought for an equalizer but were unlucky in the final ten minutes of action.

Brock (1-7-3) jumps ahead of the Ridgebacks (1-9-1) in the standings.

UOIT will next travel to Hamilton for a match against the nationally ranked McMaster Marauders on Sunday, October 6.
