OUA Men's Soccer: McMaster defeated UOIT 2-0

OSHAWA, Ont. – The UOIT men's soccer team could not find a way to end their winless streak on Friday night as the No. 6 ranked McMaster Marauders earned a 2-0 shutout win at Vaso's Field.

The Ridgebacks have dropped eight straight games including back-to-back losses to McMaster.

UOIT failed to score for their second straight game as McMaster starting goalkeeper Angelo Cavalluzzo stopped all four shots he faced. UOIT goalkeeper Karan Thaker had a busy night in net as he faced nine shots on target, seven of which he stopped.

McMaster freshman Aleksandar Vincic would score his first career goal 33 minutes into the game to give his squad a 1-0 lead. Late in the half, Gersi Xhuti would double-up the McMaster lead as he beat Thaker for his sixth of the season.

UOIT was able to generate some scoring chances in the second half, but were unable to convert as they were shutout for the eighth time this season.

McMaster has not allowed a goal in four straight wins, as they improve to 10-2-2 this season and sit in first place in the OUA western conference. UOIT drops to 1-11-1, as they are tied in the basement with the Waterloo Warriors (1-10-1). The two teams will square off in Waterloo on Sunday at 3 p.m.
