Jamie Johnson

  • Title
    Assistant Coach
UOIT men's hockey looked to a former Oshawa General to help them behind the bench as the Ridgebacks welcomed Jamie Johnson as an assistant coach.

Johnson joined the Ridgebacks after retiring from professional hockey in the spring of 2017, his final season being played with the Herning Blue Fox of Denmark's Metal Ligaen. He will be looked to as an offensive coach, something he was a leader in throughout his career.

In 262 games played between the Sarnia Sting and Oshawa Generals he had 55 goals and 249 points, including a 100-point season with the Generals in 2002-03. From 2003 he spent time in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) and American Hockey League (AHL) until 2008 before one season in the Finnish Elite League.

His career wrapped up with another five-year stretch in the AHL, time in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) and finally the Metal Ligaen.

This will be his first time stepping onto the coaching side of things, outside of his role as co-owner and director of skills for Scary Skate.
