OSHAWA, Ont. – Taylor Landry (Whitby, Ont.) and Melissa Linton (Cobourg, Ont.) have been named the UOIT student-athletes of the week presented by Boston Pizza North Oshawa for the period ending Nov. 2.
Linton, a forensic psychology major, helped make Ridgeback history over the weekend. The keeper for the women’s soccer team, Linton turned aside all opportunities in regular time and extra time in Saturday’s OUA semifinal loss to the Western Mustangs. She also stopped one penalty kick in that game.
On Sunday in the bronze medal game against Wilfrid Laurier, which UOIT won 2-0 to advance to this week’s CIS championship, she made four saves for a clean sheet, her 10th in 19 games with the Ridgebacks this season.
