Cheng had an outstanding tournament at the Ryerson Open as he was a finalist in men's singles A flight. This was the best ever finish for a Ridgeback as it was the first time in program history the Ridgeback qualified for the finals. In the men’s doubles competition, he teamed up with Sheng Cheng and reached the quarter-final of the A flight.
