Zajac, a criminology major, scored the game-winning goal in UOIT’s women’s soccer victory over the Laurentian Voyageurs on Saturday. In the 56^th Zajac banked in a perfectly placed cross from Jessica Mithrush to give the Ridgebacks a 1-0 lead. UOIT eventually won the quarter-final match 2-0 to advance to the OUA final four for the second time in program history, the last time being in 2014 when they won bronze.
 
This Friday the Ridgebacks women’s soccer team face the Windsor Lancers at 3 p.m. in London in the OUA semifinal. The OUA championship wraps up on Sunday with the bronze and gold medal games at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
 
The UOIT athlete of the week awards are presented by Subway located at 2069 Simcoe Street North in Oshawa.
