Vantfoort, who is taking his masters of applied science in mechanical engineering, had another strong outing at the Head of the Trent this season. He got the Ridgebacks off to a great start, competing in the university heavyweight single men's event. The UOIT veteran posted a time of 19:26, finishing fifth in the 12-boat field. Vantfoort was 32 seconds ahead of the sixth place racer from Carleton and only 26 seconds off a podium finish.
