Alissa Kuksis

In her final year as an athlete, Kuksis took on the interim head coach role when Ashley Schofield had to take a leave from her position. Balancing both aspects of the sport, she led the Ridgebacks to a successful 2014-15 season as a coach/athlete and in June was was officially named the head coach of the program.

Kuksis, a commerce graduate, was a member of the UOIT dance team for four seasons. In that time she won a number of medals at various competitions across Ontario, was named the 2013-14 leadership award winner and played a big role in the creation and execution of the UOIT dance showcase, an annual event on the athletics calendar at the Regent Theatre in downtown Oshawa. Her primary dance genres with the Ridgebacks were jazz and hip-hop.

Prior to joining UOIT, Kuksis started dance at the age of four. She trained at Cynthia's Creative Dance Arts and Dance Experience where she was a part of a number of podium finishes with her club. She also pursued competitive figure skating, completing her gold level tests before joining UOIT.

Adding to her dance resume after graduating from the UOIT program as an athlete, in 2015 Kuksis became a Toronto Rock cheerleader.
