Augusta Li joins the Ridgeback varsity badminton program in the position of sparring partner with an emphasis on providing competition during practice for our team athletes.
Augusta began playing badminton at Whitby Junior Badminton Club and has since enriched his knowledge of the sport through extensive training at Lee’s Badminton (Markham), Harwood Junior Badminton (Ajax) and Meraki Badminton (Scarborough). As a competitive junior player, Li has competed at the Ontario junior B level, winning a bronze medal at the 2017 provincial championship in singles. Li attends Sinclair Secondary School and represents that team within LOSSA and OFSAA competition – he has represented LOSSA twice at OFSAA provincial championship (2016, 2017) in boy’s singles where he finished fifth in B flight in 2017.
Augusta has also participated in 2016 Ontario Summer Games as a member of the Central Ontario Badminton Association (COBA) team. Finally Li was assistant coach with the Durham College badminton summer camp in 2016 and looks forward to now being part of the UOIT Ridgeback badminton team staff.
