    Assistant Coach
Assistant coach Doris Carrière brings a unique background to the UOIT varsity badminton program. As a competitive player in the 1990s, he was invited to train with the Quebec Provincial Team and climbed up to the “A” division. He spearheaded the creation of the Haute-Yamaska college badminton team, which qualified for the provincial championships in its first year. He was also named team captain two years in a row.
 
Assistant coach Carrière has previous coaching experience in alpine skiing, volleyball and badminton. He was assistant coach at Harwood Phoenix Junior Badminton Club from 2003 to 2008 and the Toronto University Varsity Team from 2005 to 2008. He also served as manager of the COBA badminton team at the Ontario Winter Games in 2008.
 
Carrière holds the rank of Sergeant with the Durham Regional Police. He is currently assigned as a Detective in the Major Crime Unit and has been involved in community safety for over 15 years. He brings extensive knowledge and experience in people management, mentoring, career development and conflict resolution.
 
He has also worked closely with head coach Wayne King for the past several years and is looking forward to assist in the development and success of the team in its inaugural year.
