Opening their final week of conference play before the holiday break, the Ontario Tech women's hockey team struggled as the Laurier Golden Hawks picked up a 3-0 victory on Thursday night. 

For the Golden Hawks, it was their first win of the season. 

Zoe McGee (Kanata, Ont.) made 19 saves in the loss, while Acadia Carlson made 17 saves in the win for Laurier. 

Ontario Tech now closes the first half of their season at home on Saturday night against the Toronto Varsity Blues. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. 

As part of the game, the women's hockey team is supporting the Durham Children's Aid Foundation's (DCAF) Holiday Hope Program, raising funds for their gift hampers. 

DCAF annually supports over 1000 children, youth and families in need during the holiday season and throughout the year. Gift hampers provide clothing, personal essentials, gift cards and special gifts of hope. 

Puck drop on Saturday, Dec. 3 is 7 p.m. against the Toronto Varsity Blues. Ticket revenue and a 50/50 draw will all raise funds towards the team's donation to DCAF, with the goal of raising $1,500 to support two families during the holiday season. 

In addition, the Ridgebacks are accepting donations from those unable to attend the game.
