GUELPH, Ont. – The UOIT men's soccer team had a better effort on Saturday but ended up with the same result as the Guelph Gryphons bested the Ridgebacks 1-0.
UOIT finishes their preseason with a pair of one-goal losses but will look to regroup for their season opener against the Carleton Ravens on Sunday, Aug. 28 in Ottawa.
Guelph would capitalize on one Ridgeback miscue on Saturday to improve to 2-0-1 in preseason action.
Nicholas Miller of Oshawa started in goal for UOIT and will be the front runner to be the opening day starter next Sunday. The 6-2 criminology and justice studies major played for R.S. McLaughlin last year.
This marks the first year that
Peyvand Mossavat is head coach of the men's program, taking over for
Vaso Vujanovic who retired after 30 years of coaching including seven seasons with the Ridgebacks.
