UOIT blanked by Laurier at homecoming
OUA Men's Soccer: Laurier defeated UOIT 2-0
OSHAWA, Ont. - The UOIT Ridgebacks men's soccer team came up short on homecoming Saturday afternoon as they were shutout by the Laurier Golden Hawks 2-0.
Laurier scored the first goal of the game at the 15-minute mark, when Matthew Maughn netting his second of the season. With the Ridgebacks attempting to level the score, the Golden Hawks would eventually put away the game in the 83rd minute when Dani Patros scored his first of the season.
Travis Martin of Port Perry, Ont. made five saves on seven Laurier shots on target. Evan Phillips stopped both UOIT shots on target for the Golden Hawk clean sheet.
UOIT has dropped their last two games to fall to 1-5-1. Laurier improves to 3-1-3 on the season and sit in fourth place in the OUA western conference standings.
UOIT will travel to Guelph to take on the Gryphons (4-1-2) on Sunday. Game time is at 3:15 p.m.
